The Arena AufSchalke is the home of Schalke 04 and was only opened 5 years ago. It has a unique pitch that is moved outside the stadium so the grass is allowed to be properly exposed to the sun and rain then moved back into position for matches.

It played host to the 2004 Champions League Final and the entire cost of construction (€191m) was raised entirely by private investors.
