The Waldstadion was the venue for last years Confederations Cup final between Brazil and Argentina. Reconstruction on the stadium took just over 3 years and was finished in October 2005 at a cost of €126 million.

The ground is is also home to German club side Eintract Frankfurt and will host 5 games during the 2006 World Cup finals.
