The Olympic Stadium (Olympiastadion) is a venue rich in history. It was the stadium where American athlete Jesse Owens memorably won 4 gold medals in the 1936 Olympics. Since then, the stadium underwent a huge transformation in 2004 at a cost of €292 million and will be the venue for the FIFA 2006 World Cup Final.

In 2002, workers found an unexploded bomb from World War II which was safely detonated

The ground is is also home to German club side Hertha Berlin and will host 6 games during the 2006 World Cup finals.
