Schwarzer To Be Fit For

Australia 'keeper, Mark Schwarzer has said he will be fit to play in the
World Cup Finals. Schwarzer suffered a facial injury in yesterday's FA Cup
Semi-Final as his Middlesboro team lost 1-0 to West Ham. He suffered the
injury in an challenge with West Ham striker Dean Ashton. It is hoped he
could be training again in 2 weeks but may not be able to play again for a
month.
Yorke fancies T&T's chances

Trinidad & Tobago captain, Dwight Yorke, believes the outsiders from the
Caribbean have a 50-50 chance to make it out of Group B. The 34-year old
Sydney FC striker says that his team are going there to compete with
England, Sweden and Paraguay, the other teams that make up Group B. He
pointed to the recent 2-0 win over Iceland in London as a positive sign that
his team can build on. He continued "The people of Trinidad & Tobago should
have a lot of faith and encouragement from the team. We want to thank
everyone from the country who has supported us through good and bad times
and everyone who has been instrumental in the teams success"

Gilberto to miss the finals

Angola's Gilberto seems set to miss his countries appearance in the 2006
World Cup finals after suffering an achilles injury in January. The winger
has had an operation in Germany after picking up the injury on the eve of
the African Cup of Nations which was held in Egypt in January 2006. The
23-year old who plays his club football for Ahly in Egypt has recovered as
quickly as expected. The news comes as a further blow for Angola who are
already without left back Yamba Asha who was banned by FIFA for a drugs
offence. Asha's sentence ends in August
